Datamax & Intermec Printers to Honeywell Transition Guide

Datamax O’Neil

Datamax was formed in 1977, in Orlando, Florida and since then has become a trusted and popular brand of thermal  transfer and direct thermal printing devices. In 2005, Datamax was acquired by the Dover Corporation who own a number of technology based companies within the Auto-ID industry. Dover acquired O’Neil Product Development in 2006. Datamax and O’Neil merged into one company in 2009 and became Datamax-O’Neil.

On March 2, 2015 Honeywell purchased Datamax-O’Neil for $185 million. The combined technology resources on Honeywell and Datamax-O’Neil have now, in 2021, begun migration of the large Datamax prints lien into a Honeywell Printer line that will provide the same trusted products and service that buyers have come to trust since 1977.

Intermec

Founded in 1966 as Intermec Mechanisms, they renamed the company to Intermec in 1982 and has seen several acquisitions over its history. Intermec shares a similar trust in product reliability as Datamax. Honeywell acquired Intermec for $600 million in 2012 and, like Datamax, folded it’s printer line into their new offering of Honeywell Printers.
