We’ve all been there, trying to wash a label off a jar or plastic product that refuses to come off without scraping, soap and water. Restaurants and food production facilities do not have the time to waste on label scraping so Zebra Supplie’s, master chefs have developed a dissolvable thermal label that simply washes off of bins and containers completely, leaving no paper residue.

Rotating food stocks must be named and dated to meet health department standards – labeling over old labels does not meet those standards. Every time the metal tray or plastic container is routinely washed by hand or in a commercial dishwasher, the label simply disperses into tiny fibers, and the acrylic adhesive loses its structure.

Food manufacturers aren't the only ones who stand to benefit from this cool new label. If you're a manufacturer or supplier who uses reusable totes to ship parts or raw materials, you can just as easily jet wash a dissolvable label away.

This new Zebra 8000D Dissolvable High-Temp Label also has the unique ability to sit under heat lamps up to 140°F and maintain their readability. Pretty amazing considering it is a direct thermal label, so it doesn’t require a ribbon.

Additional Dissolvable Label Types

In addition to Zebra’s black and white dissolvable labels Barcode Factory also creates custom full color retail labels for the retail industry looking to make their labels eco-friendly. Reusable glass containers are the largest user of this types of label. This commercial label uses adhesives designed to last through the product lifespan, but can be easily removed with simple washing.
