Why You Should Upgrade from a ZT220 to a ZT111
June 27th marked the end of Zebra’s ZT220 industrial printer, with the end-of-service date slated for January 31st, 2026. Taking its place is the new Zebra ZT111 industrial printer. The ZT111 is efficient, reliable and intuitive, providing you with quality printing and an easy setup process.
You may be considering keeping your ZT220 instead of upgrading, but doing so means cheating yourself out of the ZT111’s superior performance.
Key Features
The ZT111 features several improvements over the ZT220:
Faster print speed: While the ZT220 features a max speed of 6 inches per second (ips) across all versions, the ZT111 can print at speeds of 10 ips (when using a 203 dpi printhead). This gives you a faster print speed without sacrificing quality.
Ethernet support: Ethernet support comes standard with the ZT111, allowing for network connectivity right out of the box.
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE): The ZT111 comes standard with BLE, granting you Bluetooth access while conserving power.
USB host port: The ZT111 comes with USB host port connectivity right out of the box. This allows you to connect USB scanners or keyboards to the printer, allowing for easier data input.
Backwards-compatible: The ZT111 is backwards-compatible, meaning you won’t need to alter the label configurations you used with the ZT220. This allows for even easier setup and use.
Thermal ribbon support: The ZT111 comes in both direct thermal and hybrid (direct thermal and thermal transfer) models. All thermal transfer compatible models support 450 meter thermal transfer ribbons.
