Pot Stakes

come in 2 main thicknesses and either a side-by-side orientation or end to end. A standard thermal printer can not print even the thinnest of pot stakes that are typically 12 mil plastic. Special printers that have the ability to process thicker materials start at printers that can print up to 12 or 13 mil and printers that can imprint 20+ mil thick plastics. How thick you like the plastic tag, determines which printer you need. The width of the tags also determines the printer. Printers with a maximum width of 4” wide, will imprint end to end tags, no more than 4”.

Typically, you can have 4 pot stakes wide. Or you can purchase a tag with a maximum width of 4” side by side.

Tree Wrap Around Tags

Tree wrap around tags can be imprinted on most standard thermal transfer printers, (printers with thermal transfer ribbon hub). You do not need a special printer. You will need a printer with an adjustable print head sensor mechanism, which is standard on almost any printer these days.

Do I Need to Purchase Software?

Answer – Some of the printers include free software and Seagull Bartender has a free version of their software. If you need to send data from an external source of data, such as a CSV, Excel file or your ERP system, you will need software like Seagull Scientific Bartender Pro. If you have a few styles that you will print when needed and have the format saved, the free software works great. Start with free and see what you need. You can download a free version from Barcode Factory.

Which thermal transfer ribbon works on pot stakes and tree-wrap tags?

Answer – Wax/Resin. We have found the wax/resin blends work the best on these synthetic materials and give you a great UV resistant, scratch resistant and waterproof image.

Pre Printed - I don’t want to print these or I want my logo on a tree wrap around or pot stake

We can provide pre-printed wrap around tags and pre-printed pot stakes, or synthetic labels. We can add color logos, print variable data from your file. Whatever you need special, we have probably done it.

Barcode Factory supplies every part of this horticultural barcoding system in whole or in part. We supply thousands of nurseries, greenhouses, plant factories and research facilities throughout the United States.
