The Benefits of Linerless, Self-Adhesive, Label Printers
Why Use Labels Without a Liner?
Retail markets understand the need for speed. Whether the application is “to-Go” labels, labeling and relabeling shelves, or labeling products, a linerless label can be an ideal solution. Linerless labels, also called self-adhesive labels consist of a face material, an adhesive and a siliconized release liner backing that functions as a carrier for the label and protects the adhesive layer during handling, printing, finishing and right up to the point that the label is ready to be applied. These labels require a printer designed for linerless only labels.
Linerless self adhesive labels have these main benefits:
You can fit twice as many labels on a roll because there’s no liner to take up half the space. This means you will replace label rolls half as often, which equates to less down time.
Shipping costs are reduced by half and you will take up half the space to store.
Less environmental impact - You will not have to throw away the liners, reducing landfill waste and disposal cost.
Your workplace will be safer. Liners are silicone based which makes them slippery and a danger if left on the floor.
Not all thermal printers can print linerless labels.
Most Linerless Thermal label printers, are direct thermal, and don’t use a ribbon, making them compact and convenient for printing at the point of use. Linerless printers have a special coated platen roller that release the label from its backing without leaving adhesive residue in the printer; the result is a label that’s ready to be applied. Sticky back label material is a continuous roll that lest the user print whatever length label they require, conserving label material as well as wasteful liner. Linerless label printers receive media that is either .75 in or 1 in core size and an outside diameter that fits standard mobile and desktop printer sizes. Small industry, warehousing and other companies have also found use for this combination of label and printer.
